The Dunes of The Namib Desert are some of the most iconic and most photographed dunes in the world. Before deciding to go to Namibia this was my main goal to see. Funnily enough when Stephan and I actually reached the dunes I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be. I think this was mainly due to our recently experienced amazing adventure in the extreme remote parts of the Namib Desert (See Himba Lady for reference).

We arrived at the camp by the gates to the entrance of the National park of Sossusvlei the night before and set up camp. The campsite was packed unlike all the previous 18 nights where we had been all alone. The next morning we set off when it was still dark, Stephan knew the place and when to be where. We decided to set off early and bring supplies to stay out there all day. What a day it was. Sossusvlei and the surrounding dunes do not disappoint, this place lives up to the hype. The salt flats trapped in the between the massive dunes towering up higher than I had imagined. You can just stand up the top of these dunes on view into the desert. As far as the eye reaches there is nothing but dunes to be seen.
