Sossusvlei is perhaps the crown jewels of tourism in Namibia and it lives up to the hype. As I said in The Dunes of The Namib Desert, I was finding myself slightly underwhelmed the day before. But as the next day came our way and I found myself climbing these enormous sand dunes, looking out upon the continuing dunes going for miles and miles in all directions, I couldn't help but be in awe. To imagine that these salt pans are the creation of the Namib Desert slowly eating its way into the Atlantic Ocean is simply mind blowing. These dunes are constantly on the move, nowadays you can't even see the ocean from the top of dunes. That is when the power of mother earth strikes me. That is the sort of experience that humbles me. This is when I realise that it all could be over tomorrow and I am ought to take control over my life. Because I for one do not want to just be a sand corn taken for a spin by life, getting pushed around feeling like I have no control over my own life. This is the power of nature. That is why I love to connect with nature.
